Category 6 cables, with a bandwidth of 100 MHz, are used for 100 Mbps and 1000 Mbps Ethernet networks with a maximum length of 100 metres. A 10 Gigabit/s Ethernet cable works up to a maximum of 55 metres. When cables are bundled together, the maximum length is merely 37 metres - due to Alien Crosstalk. Besides Ethernet, these data networks are suitable for many different protocols, like analogue telecom, ISDN, ATM, Token Ring and RS-232 with a maximum reach of 100 metres.
